Inquiry into Action

Welcome…

January 13th, 2010 · No Comments · general information

Greetings,

Welcome to NCLC 203 Inquiry to Action: Facilitating Change. As you already know, the format will be different this semester. We will be together for the entire fifteen weeks from 9:30 am -12:00 noon Tuesdays and Thursdays. Since NCLC 103 meets on Tues/Thurs afternoons, there will be occasional weeks where we will swap days in order to facilitate trips or feature special speakers.

We begin Tuesday (1/19) in the JC Cinema. Please plan to be there by *9:20* so we can get started as close to 9:30 as possible. We will go through learning community introductions and logistics. After the break you will have the opportunity to meet your seminar leader in one of the following *JC Assembly Rooms based on your section number: *001 — B, 003 — C, 004 — D, 005 – E.

The main text for the class is Earnest T. Stringer, Action Research, 3rd Edition. Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage, 2007. It is currently available in the campus bookstore. We will also read some sections from the Faigley text you used during the first semester. There will be several readings available on e-reserves, and ongoing information about NCLC 203 will be accessible via this webspace. We also plan to use Pebble Pad for assignments and ongoing reflections.

You will probably find that the first few weeks have a significant amount of reading compared to the second half of the semester. If you’d like to get a head start on the reading, you can begin with Stringer, the Foreword and Chapter 1.

We hope you have a great semester!

Janette Muir, team leader
